2014 Summer Library Program workshop with Tom Zinnen

Location: Appleton Public Library (Directions & Parking)

Featuring guest presenter, Tom Zinnen, UW-Extension Biotechnology Policy & Outreach Specialist and colleagues from area UW-Extension offices. Tom is passionate about sharing science with Wisconsin, transforming how people view and do science, and improving science savvy to enable people to better use science. Tom will share ideas on how children and teen librarians can incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) activities into their library programming. Don't worry about having an outfitted science lab ... Tom will show us how to excite young people and families using everyday objects.

Tessa Michaelson Schmidt will introduce us to state data from the annual report over the past decade and lead a discussion about re-thinking SLP in a new and exciting way.

Participants are encouraged to bring something to share: a hands-on activity or experiment, a skit or story to use in school promotions, a way to engage teens, etc.
