The Outagamie Waupaca Library System (OWLS) is seeking a full-time graphic arts and communications specialist. This position is responsible for providing marketing and publication support to OWLS and its sixteen member libraries. Responsibilities include the preparation, production, and distribution of promotional materials; consulting on marketing, social media, and communications activities with member libraries; and coordinating communications activities for OWLS.
OWLS seeks to coordinate and strengthen public library service in our member libraries through consulting, technology, delivery, and training. People who excel at OWLS are self-motivated, can work well independently and on a team, and can balance attention to detail with an appreciation of the big picture.
Work with a small staff in a friendly, collaborative office environment. OWLS is located in downtown Appleton, Wisconsin, a growing community with a vibrant downtown and an active arts community. Appleton is situated in the Fox River Valley, an area characterized by good schools, a low cost of living, a low crime rate, and many busy public libraries.
Required qualifications include:
- A degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing or related field.
- Experience with design, reproduction, and finishing of print materials.
- Proficiency in using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Microsoft Publisher.
- Strong customer service orientation and skills.
Desired background includes:
- Experience in marketing and data visualization.
- Familiarity with public library services, operations, and procedures.
The starting wage for this 40-hour per week position is $16/hour, negotiable depending on experience. OWLS provides a comprehensive benefit package including paid health insurance and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System.

The Youth Services Specialist is responsible for providing quality youth and family programming, coordinating the summer reading program and execute a weekly storytime. Additionally, opening the library and providing frontline customer service is included in this position. He or she must be able to work independently and in a team environment while being responsible with excellent attention to detail.
This position reports to the Library Director.
High school diploma required. Experience working with youth and families required. Library and programming experience preferred. Must be able to work until 5:30pm on some evenings. Occasional, but minimal Saturdays required.
Must be able to bend, stoop, and stand on your feet for multiple hours at a time. Starting wage is $10.00-$11.50, dependent on experience.
